Interested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional swim instructor? Through videos, group discussion, and hands-on practice, you’ll develop an understanding of how to use the course materials, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participant progress.

The purpose of the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program is two-fold:
to teach people how to be safe in, on and around water; and to teach people of all ages and
varying abilities how to swim. Using a logical progression, the program covers the knowledge
and skills needed for aquatic skill development, which, in turn, leads to safer and better swimmers.

Prerequisites:
- Be at least 16 years old on or before the last day of the Instructor Course
- Demonstrate the ability to perform the following swimming skills:
1. Swim the following strokes consistent with the Stroke Performance Charts, Level 4:
     o Front Crawl – 25 yards
     o Back Crawl – 25 yards
     o Breaststroke – 25 yards
     o Elementary Backstroke – 25 yards
     o Sidestroke – 25 yards
     o Butterfly – 15 yards
2. Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling)
3. Tread water for 1 minute

On the first in-class date, all WSI candidates must complete a prerequisite swim assessment (listed above). Information on completing the online course will be emailed to WSI candidates upon completion of the assessment and payment for the course.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
